Academic Excellence Scholarships (AES)
La Trobe’s Academic Excellence Scholarships (AES) are targeted towards high achieving international students from all countries across all of La Trobe’s undergraduate and postgraduate coursework programs.Who is eligible?
- citizens of countries other than Australia or New Zealand
- commencing international students wanting to undertake undergraduate and postgraduate coursework, full degrees at La Trobe in 2013
- applicants who scored a minimum of 80 per cent or equivalent in their previous degree/award
- students who meet or will meet the University’s academic and English entry requirements at the commencement date of their course (and have received an offer at the time of applying for this scholarship).
Who is not eligible?
- international students wanting to undertake Higher Degree Research, Exchange, Study Abroad, ELICOS and Foundation Studies and Diploma courses
- students with scores lower than 80 per cent or equivalent in their previous degrees/award
- students who have already received the AES scholarship
- continuing La Trobe University students.
How to apply
Applicants are required to have an offer to study in a degree
program commencing in 2013 at La Trobe University at the time of applying for
this scholarship.
Applicants must complete a scholarship application form and submit it to La Trobe International via
email at intapplication@latrobe.edu.au by the

Tenure
The scholarships are non-renewable tuition fee awards of A$10 000-$20 000 paid across a maximum period of two semesters (or twelve months). Recipients of the scholarship would be required to pay for any difference in fees for their first two semesters, fees for the remainder of their course and also Overseas Student Health Cover. These scholarships are not renewable and do not cover living costs.Continuation of the scholarship into a second semester (where relevant) is subject to satisfactory progress and continued enrolment in the program of study for which the scholarship was awarded. Maintaining a C grade average is required, and satisfactory progress will be monitored.

Undergraduate regional and Africa scholarships
Regional Student Scholarship (A$5000)
La Trobe University invites international students who completed Year 12 in 2011 at a high school in regional Australia or international students who completed studies at a regional Australian TAFE in 2011, to apply for a scholarship to study an undergraduate degree at one of our regional campuses in Bendigo, Shepparton, Albury-Wodonga or Mildura. These scholarships are awarded as one-off payments and are distributed to students until the quota has been filled.Africa Region Scholarship (A$2500)
La Trobe University invites international students from Africa to apply for undergraduate scholarships toward undergraduate studies at any of our campuses. These scholarships are awarded as one-off payments and are distributed to students until the quota has been filled.To apply, students need to meet all the entry requirements and hold an unconditional offer and start an undergraduate degree at La Trobe University in Victoria, Australia in 2013. Undergraduate civil engineering scholarship
This scholarship is available to outstanding international
high school graduates (70 per cent or above in year 12 or equivalent). The
purpose of this scholarship is to attract students to study a Bachelor of Civil
Engineering at La Trobe’s regional campus in Bendigo. It offers the opportunity
for students to work in a region that currently faces a skill shortage of civil
engineers. The scholarship, worth $20 000 over four years (or $5 000 per
year, subject to satisfactory progress) will be offered to all students who
meet the entry requirements and accept an offer to study the Bachelor of Civil
Engineering at the Bendigo campus starting in Semester 1 (March) 2013. Students
applying for this scholarship must meet the following English language
requirements:
- IELTS – a minimum overall band score of 6.0 with no individual band less than 6.0, or
- TOEFL – a minimum score of 550 with a score of 5 or better in the test of written English, or
- TOEFL – a minimum score of 233 with a score of 5 in essay writing.
