Description
Under the supervision of the Health Team Leader shall be responsible for the overall collection, summarizing, compiling and dissemination, storing and timely reporting of all forms of health related data generated from the activities of the health program.
He/she will supervise and head the HIS department. He/she shall be expected to hospital records and stationery, coordinate referrals and also act as the focal IT person at field level.
Key Responsibilities
- Overall responsibility for the compilation and interpretation of health data
- To develop and provide the required data collection instruments to all health facilities.
- Continuous and frequent close monitoring / supervision of all levels of data collection from entry, filling, compiling, summarizing and giving feedback to Health Team Leader
- To enforce timely submission of data from all the collection points, including monthly planning reports for all departments.
- To ensure quality and integrity of data
- Assist the sources of health information to utilize data for planning and management purpose.
- Provide technical input, review and validate all IRC reports with regards to data mentioned.
- Feeding of health information into the program planning process
- Provide data to IRC, UNHCR and relevant Implementation Partners (IPs) and put in place a feedback system to the various sources in the health program.
- To develop a health database that can be shared within a Local Area Network (LAN)
- Overall responsibility for special data management projects including:
VCT & PMCT Data,
Pepfar reports
TB Data
Nutrition reports
Knowledge & Attitude Surveys
Disease Surveillance
- Provide ICT support
- Prepare quarterly and annual reports and contribute to the development of the annual work plan.
- Develop and manage database system for monitoring and evaluation and generate periodic reports to inform and guide programs.

- In close collaboration with the Clinical services, Nutrition , Gender Based Violence and HIV programs, ensure the integrated development, strengthening, harmonization data collection tools and use
Minimum requirements:
- Bachelor of Science degree in Health Information management or equivalent.
- Computer literacy with possible advanced Ms word, Ms Excel, Ms PowerPoint and Ms access
- Knowledge in computer statistical packages (EPI INFO,SPSS and Stata)
- At least with at least 5 years experience in managing Health Information System
- Strong communication skills; oral, written and presentation skills.
- Strong management skills (Managing, motivating and developing staff)
- Ready to work in difficult environmental conditions
- Must be flexible and culturally sensitive

Maternity Nurse-Kakuma

Description
Working under the guidance and supervision of the Midwife In charge of the Maternity Unit, the maternity nurse will be directly responsible for;
Key Responsibilities
- Diagnosing, monitoring, and examining mothers during pregnancy and in labor.
- Developing, assessing and evaluating individual programs of care.
- Providing full antenatal care, including counseling and screening tests in the hospital.
- Identifying high risk pregnancies and making referral to clinicians and other medical specialist.
- Arranging and providing parenting and health education for the mother, her partner and family members
- Responsible for the delivery of the mother, ensuring the safety of both the mother and child.
- Offering support and advice following events such as miscarriage, stillbirth, neonatal abnormality and neonatal death.
- Supervising and assisting mothers in labor, monitoring labor using the partograph and writing of nursing care plans.
- Ensure that all relevant records are properly kept and updated
- Arrange and submit work schedules, plan duties and responsibilities for staff in the unit.
- Monitor and supervise rational use of supplies.
- Maintain equipment in good condition and submit regular inventory reports of the same.
- Conduct regular Continuous Medical Education and On-job trainings to staff in the unit.
- Attend the hospital staff meeting and the reproductive health meetings.
- Conduct weekly ward meetings.
- Compile and submit weekly HIS reports.
- Ensure that the birth Registration of babies is carried out, list compiled and submitted to UNHCR monthly.
- Advising the mother on proper care of the child including; Breastfeeding and immunization.
- Carry out other relevant and/or requested duties as may be required by the supervisor
Minimum requirements
- Kenya Registered Community Health Nurse (KRCHN)/ Kenya Registered Midwife. (KRM) and be registered by the nursing council.
- At least two years experience working in a busy maternity unit.
- Life support Skills on obstetric and neonatal care.
- Team player and cultural sensitivity is required.
- Ability to work in hardship areas (Previous experience in a Camp setting will be an added advantage).
- Fluency in Turkana/Somali will be an added advantage

Most At Risk Populations (MARPs) Nurse

To provide quality services to Most at risk population (MARPs) clients
Key Responsibilies:
- Manage the day to day running of the MARPS Clinic.
- Prepare for and assist the doctors during special clinic Days for MARPS and whenever required
- Ensure that all required observations, prescribed treatment and procedures are properly carried out and documented on patient's charts.
- Refer to the doctor in charge or to the doctor on call relevant information such as patient's status and laboratory results, which would assist in proper clinical management of The MARPS clients.
- Perform bedside nursing.
- Arrange and submit weekly work schedule and plan daily duties and responsibilities for each of the refugee incentive staff.
- Record and keep patient Files as required
- Escort MARPS patient to other referral hospital when necessary.
- Do MARPS Clinic coverage and on-call as required.
- Participate in camp health surveys/campaigns.
- Support the Prevention with Positive Facilitators and other incentive HIV refugee staff be may be required
Required qualification:
- Diploma/Degree In Nursing/ or its equivalent in a relevant field is required.
- Registration with the Nursing Council of Kenya
- Minimum three (3) years experience in implementing MARPs related activities in a busy clinical set up
- Trainings on management of HIV related infections including STIs, Opportunistic infections, clinical management people living with HIV/AIDS (PLWHA) and Rationale use of ARVs
- S/He must possess ability to analyze and interpret both quantitative and qualitative program data.
- Ready to work in difficult environmental conditions
- Previous working experience in MARPs programs
- Proper counseling knowledge and skills
- Previous working experience in HIV programs
