Position Self Help Africa wishes to recruit a dynamic RuSACCO Programme Manager for its Ethiopian country programme
SHA has been working in Ethiopia since 1984 in the agricultural sector to improve production and productivity of smallholder farmers. SHA works in eight African countries and has a new strategic plan focusing on improving the livelihoods of smallholders through agriculture development and rural enterprise.
The RuSACCO Programme Manager will be required to provide leadership in the overall planning and management to Rural Saving and Credit Cooperatives (RuSACCO) staff and implementing partners.
This is a senior position created to manage overall coordination and quality of SHA's RuSACCO programme in order to provide effective support that builds the skills and confidence of rural communities to become self reliant.
Essential
In order to succeed in this role, the successful candidate is expected to have amongst other attributes:
A strong commitment to the aims, objectives and values of the programme in Ethiopia
Relevant third level education (development, rural development, community development, organizational and institutional capacity building and development. Masters, PhD an advantage)
A minimum of 5 years experience in project management at senior level in a similar environment with excellent people management skills
High level skills in report writing and presentation
Ability and experience to conceptualise, implement and evaluate projects
Knowledge of dynamics of partnership and experience in a role directly involved in partner/local institution organizational capacity development programmes i.e. with experience in using organizational assessment tools and facilitating organization development processes
Knowledge of NGO sector in Ethiopia
Practical experience of livelihoods and rights based approaches to development
A good appreciation for advocacy purposes of how to use media, lobbying and mass mobilisation
Knowledge of current challenges facing livelihoods of rural Ethiopians.
